DC, CCSP, EMT-B — chiropractic sports physician

Dr. Joanne Fava

Dr. Joanne Fava is a chiropractic sports medicine physician with more than 30 years focused on functional sports medicine, injury rehabilitation, and conservative musculoskeletal care. Licensed in Florida since 1995, she combines chiropractic care with emergency medical training to help weekend athletes and elite competitors recover and return to the work they actually do.

A graduate of New York Chiropractic College (1994), she is a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP) and holds advanced certifications in Graston Technique (GTS, Levels 1–3), FAKTR, RockTape, and Kinesio Taping. She is also a certified EMT-B.

In addition to private practice, Dr. Fava serves as Chief Medical Officer at Nathan Benderson Park Conservancy, volunteering care to athletes from around the world. She has traveled internationally with Team USA since 2015, served as a volunteer medical physician at the U.S. Olympic Training Centers in Colorado Springs and Chula Vista, and is currently on staff as a traveling physician for USA Swimming.

She served as President of the Florida Chiropractic Association Sports Injury Council (2002–2008), President of the United States Sports Chiropractic Federation (2006), and Chairman of the Board of the Florida Sports Foundation (2010–2013). She mentors chiropractic interns as an adjunct supervising physician at National University of Health Sciences and Northeast College of Health Sciences.

She is a published author — co-author of Chapter 12, “Trunk and Viscera,” in the 2nd edition of Conservative Management of Sports Injuries — and continues to serve as a legal medical consultant and expert witness.

An avid triathlete, runner, and swimmer, she is a former Special Olympics coach and youth soccer trainer, a former board member and past president of the Sarasota Storm Triathlon Club, and the current sports chiropractor for the Venice High School Athletics Department, working the sidelines with longtime athletic trainer Steve Bennett, ATC. Monday nights you may find her at British Open Pub with Team Trebek’s Rejects. The point is the same in the clinic: she already knows what the sport asks of a body.

Care is personalized and evidence-based — restore function, reduce pain, and get you back to the activity, not a generic adjustment mill.
