Drs. Fava and Gambina opened the doors to this sports rehab center in March 1995. For more than 30 years the work has been the same: national and international athletes, weekend competitors, and people who simply want to move again — getting them back to the starting blocks.
The Venice practice expanded to University Town Center in 2013 so athletes on both ends of the Sarasota corridor could be seen without a long drive. The method did not change: functional movement, soft-tissue work, and a plan that matches the sport.
Since 2019 Dr. Fava has continued that journey as the physician of record. At the Tokyo Olympic Games (2020/2021) she had ten athletes competing — one gold, two silver, and two bronze medals came home. She represented USA Swimming at the World Championships in Doha, Qatar, working alongside the coaching staff as three athletes earned spots to the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. In Paris she worked with 13 athletes who brought home three gold, two silver, and two bronze medals.
On any given day the office is filled with everyday people who want the same standard as the professionals and elites who train through here. That mix is the point of Functional Sports Medicine — not a VIP lane and a waiting room.
Train Harder. Recover Faster. Stay Stronger.
