Graston Technique

Instrument-assisted soft tissue work for stubborn tendon and fascia problems.

Graston Technique is the original instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) method. Stainless-steel instruments help locate restricted muscle, tendon, and fascia, then treat that tissue so it can move and take load again. It was developed in the early 1990s.

Dr. Fava has used Graston Technique since 2002 and is certified through GTS Levels 1–3. It is the treatment we use when a problem has not settled with rest alone — tennis elbow that will not quiet, plantar fascia that hates the first step, an IT band that ends a run early.

It is one part of care, not the whole plan. We pair it with loading and movement so the tissue can tolerate the sport again.
